Head Coed Cross Country Coach
Coach Steve Harris has been teaching and coaching since 1985 after graduating from Ball State. He coached middle school track and football and was an assistant varsity football coach before starting the middle school cross country program at a nearby school. Harris coached varsity track and field for more than 20 years and has been at Cascade High School since 2004, where he currently teaches special education. This is his ninth year as the head cross country coach for both the boys and girls teams.
He has been married to his wife, Julie, who is an RN, for 32 years. They have a daughter, Krista who works as a lab technician, and a son, Wesley, who is a certified personal trainer and physical therapy assistant. Coach and his family enjoy camping, hiking, snorkeling, wildlife, and most outdoor activities.
Other hobbies include hunting, trapping, off-road motorcycle racing, and studying history. He also races competitively in 5k, 10k and mini-marathon trail races in state parks all around Indiana.
